Taking tamoxifen to prevent breast cancer can save lives and money, study suggests

Tamoxifen, taken by certain women as a preventive measure against breast cancer, saves lives and reduces medical costs, a new study suggests. The study’s results suggest that the benefits of tamoxifen to prevent cancer can sufficiently compensate for its side effects in post-menopausal women under age 55 years who have an increased risk of developing breast cancer.

Childhood Cancer Awareness – Save the Children

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. -On average, 12500 kids are diagnosed with cancer every year! -Right now, this second, somewhere in America, there are 7 children fighting for their lives who won’t live through the day. -1 in every 330 children will be diagnosed with some form of cancer by age 19 -One out of every 5 children diagnosed with cancer will loose their battle -3 out of every 5 children with cancer will have long term or late onset side effects -Space research receives 13 BILLION a year in funding while ped. Cancer (all forms) receive 35 MILLION (this is private and government! 5-3% of siblings of children with cancer ages 8-18 (within 2 years of diagnosis) reported moderate to severe Post Traumatic Stress Symptoms and 27% qualify for a diagnosis of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. -Researchers noted emotional stress, sense of emotional deprivation, anger, guilt and decrease in parental tolerance.
